Our student’s concept was to make cookers for urban apartment dwellers. This sleek looking appliance that is as “convenient as a microwave oven”. Can be mounted on any south facing window, for quick cooking—reaching 120 degrees in about 20 minutes. It removes the requirement of a large open terrace or garden, as well as the need to continuously check and change the cookers directions, while drastically cutting down cooking time.
Window-mounted Solar Cooker project by our student, Avinash Prabhune, has won the Gandhian Young Technological Innovation (GYTI) Award/Appreciation 2018. The award function was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 19th March 2018, where Dr. R.A. Malshekar, Chairperson of the Research Advisory Committee, SRISTI and NIF felicitated the awardees in the presence of the Hon’ble President Shri Ram Nath Kovind.
