CII- IDC, IITB- DSIR Conclave for MSMEs on New Product Development
held from 11th – 12th September 2015 at IDC
The Government of India’s Make in India Mission depends upon the creation and manufacturing of new products and creating global brands. In keeping with this mission, CII partnered with IDC and Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR) to organise a Conclave focussing on New Product Development specifically for the Medium and Small Scale Industries.
In today’s markets, the challenge is to constantly innovate and create new products that accurately identify what a consumer wants, at optimum quality and speed. New Product development is not dependant on technical sophistication and manufacturing processes as much as on a deep understanding of consumer needs. With this premise, DIC funded this conclave where participants were given definitive strategies for innovating and developing successful products using a structured process. The lectures explained how to focus on the consumer, create ecosystems for innovation, and understand branding, identity and packaging.
Characteristic of IDC’s unique teaching methodologies, the conclave was highly interactive with a series of workshops interspersing the lectures. This allowed the participants to get hands-on experience of actually applying the methods they learnt as well as interacting with their fellow attendees. Conducted on IITB campus, a visit to the research labs of NCPRE & CeN, IITB was organised to give participants an insight into how effective innovation is based on sound research.
